This is the history and information of the band Iron Maiden. I will review the band and the style of music they create. I will build up information and the back round of the band and their creation.
The band was first put together in London, England in 1976. Iron Maiden was thought of by of Steve Harris who played the bass guitar in the band. Steve Harris was from the band of pub rockers Smiler before Iron Maiden. Named after a medieval torture device, the music was considered heavy and hard. The creation of the band was officially created right away in 1976, where the band started it’s movement. The members first began with Steve Harris on bass, Dave Murray on guitar, Paul Di’anno on vocals, and Doug Sampson on drums. The band made its first appearance at the Cart & Horses Pub in Stratford in 1977. Unable to get a response from any record companies, the band sent a three-track tape. The tape consisted of Prowler and Strange World. The tape was sent to Neal Kay, who was a DJ at north London's hard rock disco. Neal Kay got them an instant welcome to the company. In 1979, the band added a second guitarist. Tony Parsons was added to the band for two tracks. By the time the band begin sessions for their album, he had been replaced by Dennis Stratton. Doug Sampson was also replaced by Clive Burr that year. By 1981, Paul Di’anno was demonstrating increasingly self-destructive behavior, particularly through alleged drug usage, although Di'Anno himself denies the charge. His performances began to suffer, just as the band was beginning to achieve major success in America. At the end of 1981 the band dismissed Di'Anno and sought a new vocalist. In the 1990s the bands music and back round was every where. Their music was on television, the radio, video games and more. These were their golden years and nothing was stopping them. In February 1999 it was announced that Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith had rejoined the band, restoring the classic line-up. They continued their work on the band and they continued to succeed. A few of Iron Maiden top albums are Killers, Fear of the Dark, Best of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Power Slave, Somewhere in Time, Number of the Beast, and Brave New World. These are some of the selling albums of Iron Maiden in the last thirty years. There are many more. The two top songs of these albums, which were highly known were Two Minutes to Midnight and the Trooper. After the completing the Death On The Road Tour the band take some time out while work continues on the first chapter of "The History Of Iron Maiden" DVD Series. The first part entitled "The Early Days" was released in November 2004 to the fans delight and heads the Music DVD charts across Europe. The DVD charts the band's early career up to the 1983 with the release of Piece Of Mind. Because of the success of the Matter of Life and Death World Tour in 2006 the band began the year by announcing there were not only extending the tour but also travelling to new countries. This included a headline festival appearance in Dubai, UAE and Bangalore in India. Both shows caused national front page news and media coverage and sold out entirely. Fans travelled to Dubai from Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and all over Arab while in India fans travelled in from China, Nepal, Pakistan and all points of India just to be there, some driving more than a 100 hours, with thousands more outside the venue just to hear the concert. In between these a stop in Belgrade saw the 20,000 cap arena rammed with excited fans from Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia. The band returned to Europe during June for some summer festivals and re-visited countries they haven't been to for some time, like Bulgaria and Slovakia, for more stadium shows. Most notably in this period they headlined Download Festival for a record 4th time at Donington Park to a great response from the 70,000 festival audience. The tour closed with a special fund raising concert in aid of their former drummer, who was ill. Iron Maiden were ranked #24 in VH1’s "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". The band were ranked fourth on MTV's "Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All Time". Iron Maiden were named as the third best heavy metal band of all time on VH1 Classic: Top 20 Metal Bands. The band also won the Ivor Novello Award for international achievement in 2002. Iron Maiden has sold over 75 million records under EMI Record label and total over 100 million records worldwide. The had band won the Novello Awards for international achievement in 2002 and were also introduced into the Hollywood Rockwalk in Sunset Boulevard and Los Angeles, during their tour in the United States in 2005. As of October 2009, the band has played just over 2000 live shows during their career and are often cited as one of the most influential bands in rock history.
